CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates)

CASA, Court-Appointed Special Advocates, is a national, volunteer-based, nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and supervises community members to represent the best interests of child victims of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect that are currently in the judicial system.

CASA Volunteers are supervised by CASA team members and work alongside the child's legal and professional team. They ensure that the child's physical, mental, educational and emotional needs are being met, and advocate for the child in court, all the while supporting them in their journey to find a safe and permanent home. Our CASA Volunteers come from all backgrounds and walks of life. Successful CASA Volunteers are mature, stable, open-minded, empathetic, collaborative, confident, and have strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Potential CASA Volunteers will complete an online application, interview, and 30 hours of pre-service training. Please note that this process has been adapted to take place virtually during COVID-19. CASA Volunteers must be 21+ years of age and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and fingerprinting. CASA Volunteers also must be able to make at least an 18-month commitment and have approximately 10-15 hours per month to spend working their case. If you are interested in learning more, please visit: https://denvercasa.org/metro/ to find a CASA program near you in the Denver Metro Area.
